Fatherhood Coach (Contractor)

Position Summary:

 

The Fatherhood Coach ensures the successful execution of strategies designed to help children and families of Seminole County by promoting responsible fatherhood and assisting fathers to fulfill their emotional, financial, legal, and moral responsibilities to their children.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Increase the awareness of and educate the identified target population on responsible fatherhood to enhance the father-child relationship.

  • Develop a knowledge of the role of the father in parenting and the programs that teach fathers this role.

  • Recruit fathers to participate in programs designed to enhance their parenting skills.

  • Conduct support groups designed to promote responsible fatherhood in various communities.

  • Conduct classes for youth to reduce teen pregnancy and promote responsible behavior.

  • Assure clients and their families have access to community resources.

  • Coordinate classes and programs for clients enrolled in the Fatherhood Program.

  • Maintain a productive dialogue with key members of communities and provide as liaison between these communities and other fatherhood activities within the county.

  • Build relationships and participate in community organizations, which may offer strategic planning and implementation of programs that serve fathers.

  • Track and maintain accurate reports and participant attendance records for program components in a timely and organized fashion.

  • Establish and maintain a confidential record system in accordance with generally accepted operational procedures and practices. Required data elements will be entered into the Well Family System in accordance with the requirements.

  • Prepare and present monthly reports to the Director of Program.

  • Participate in staff meetings, continuing education training, and program required meetings.

  • Work independently and as a member of the team.

  • Perform duties in a culturally sensitive manner.

  • Performing other duties, as required to assist in the development of the Fatherhood Program.

 

Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationship with Coalition Board, Members & Staff as well as with agency representatives, service providers & fathers (target population).

  • Able to work effectively with a diverse population and with different management levels.

  • Able to prioritize and work well in a fast pace and changing professional environment.

  • Able to travel local and out of the county (valid driver’s license, good driving record, and auto insurance are required)

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Must possess critical thinking skills.

  • Must posses excellent written and oral communications skills including the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, group situations and public presentations.

  • Must possess strong organizational skills and be detail oriented.

  • Understanding of cultural diversity

  • Working knowledge of MS Office products (i.e., Excel, Word, and Outlook)

  • Bilingual in English & Spanish preferred (both written and spoken)

  • Enthusiastic self-starter able to work with minimum supervision and prepared to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends.

 

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of four-year college degree in one of the following preferred: education, social sciences, social work, or psychology.

  • OR Two years of college with three years of experience in social work, education, or counseling.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a contractor to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Contractor may be required to perform local and non-local travel. The contractor must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

 

Special Requirements:

  • Must have a reliable vehicle to drive within Seminole County and requires maintaining a valid Florida State driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and eligibility for coverage under any applicable agency insurance.

  • Must show proof of and maintain liability coverage under any applicable agency insurance.

  • Must pass a level 2 background check.
